FREN 152  Français intermédiaire II  Units: 3.00  
This course, delivered entirely in French, is designed for non-native French speakers at the intermediate level (approximately B1 to B2) seeking to enhance their grammar, reading, listening, writing and speaking skills, with an introduction to literary analysis.
Learning Hours: 120 (36 Lecture, 12 Tutorial, 18 Online Activity, 54 Private Study)  
Requirements: Prerequisite FREN 151/3.0 or permission of the Department after completion of a Placement Test. Exclusion FREN 150/6.0.

Course Learning Outcomes:

  1. Demonstrate knowledge of the main rules of French grammar.
  2. Compose complex sentences, including subordinate clauses.
  3. Choose appropriate strategies to improve your understanding of a written or oral text, and evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies.
  4. Compose structured descriptive or narrative written texts with correct use of verb tenses and different modes (indicative, infinitive, subjunctive, etc.).
  5. Interpret a literary text by developing reading and analytical strategies.
  6. Express your opinion, in writing or orally, on a given issue or on cultural themes covered in class and/or in your tutorials.
  7. Express yourself orally in both informal and formal settings.
