Description:
In this workshop, two experienced ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ leaders – Chad McLeod, Controller in Financial Services, and Sarah Indewey, Manager in the Department of Psychology and community-facing Psychology Clinic – will demystify many challenges and identify opportunities for effective financial management in the public sector, and more specifically at ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥. If are looking to learn more about the allocation of funds, planning to spend responsibly, or day-to-day tracking, this workshop will help you approach your financial responsibilities with skill and confidence.

Learning Outcomes:
- Describe your role as a manager with respect to the annual budget cycle at ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥
- Describe the ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ budget cycle and process of spending budget funds responsibly
- Distinguish between the various funding sources at ¾ÅÐãÖ±²¥ and how university activities are organized into various chartfields
- Identify financial tools/technology that you should master as a manager and possible gaps in your knowledge and/or skills
- Review at least one financial report that is relevant to the manager's role and learn some easy techniques to work with report data
