Ce 9^e colloque est organisé à partir de l’Université Queen’s, où Isabelle St-Amand est professeure agrégée, en partenariat avec l’organisme culturel  et en collaboration avec le . Il se tiendra à Montréal et à Kahnawà:ke dans le cadre du Festival international Présence autochtone.  

PROGRAMME

DIMANCHE 9 AOÛT 2026 

En cette toute dernière journée des activités extérieures du Festival international Présence autochtone, allez faire un petit tour sur la Place des festivals (1499, rue Jeanne-Mance), qui est adjacente à l’ONF, où se déroulera cette journée de colloque.

10h15: Bienvenue et mot d’ouverture 

Avec les coorganisateurs Isabelle St-Amand (U. Queen’s), André Dudemaine (Innu, Terres en vues) et Marion Konwanénhon Delaronde (Kahnawakeronon, Centre linguistique et culturel Kanien'kehá:ka Onkwawén:na Raotitióhkwa).

10h30-12h00 : Séance de recherche : Un écart conceptuel à combler : théoriser nos pratiques de recherche collaborative dans le domaine du cinéma autochtone

12h30-14h00 : Séance de communications : Création autochtone et souveraineté narrative : le cas du Wapikoni mobile 

Avec Pierre Dairon (Kenyon College), Bianca Gonzalez (McGill U.), Marie-Kristine Petiquay (Attikamekw, Wapikoni mobile). Présidence de séance : Anthony Morin-Hébert (UQAM).

14h30-17h : Cérémonie de remise des prix du Festival international Présence autochtone 2026.

18h: Première du film O'ien'kwen:ton (Tabac suspendu) d’Ellen Gabriel (Kanienké:hàka), suivi d’une période de questions en présence de la réalisatrice.

Communication de Bruno Cornellier (U. Winnipeg), « Binarismes hérétiques et antagonismes Blancs/Autochtones : le cas du Québec contemporain et du cinéma autochtone »

Suivie d’une 

Table ronde sur le sujet avec Renato Rodriguez-Lefebvre, Véronique Basile Hébert (Attikamewk, UQAM), Sharon Fontaine-Ishpatao (Innue). 

MARDI 11 AOÛT 2026

Lieu: Kanatahkwèn:ke Cultural Arts Center (6, Québec-132, Kahnawake, J0L 1B0)

9:30h : Mot de bienvenue : Marion Konwanénhon Delaronde (Kahnawakeronon, Centre linguistique et culturel Kanien’kehá:ka Onkwawén:na Raotitióhkwa).

10h00-11h30 : Table ronde : L’œuvre cinématographique de Jeff Barnaby, une inspiration pour les cinéastes autochtones 

Avec Reaghan Tarbell (réalisatrice, Kahnawà:ke, à confirmer), John Christou (producteur, à confirmer), Devery Jacobs (actrice, Kahnawà:ke), Brent Horne (critique de film, Kahnawà:ke, à confirmer). Animée par Kaniehtiio Horn (réalisatrice, Kahnawà:ke). 

11h30-13h00 : Repas de réseautage.

13h00-14h00 : Table ronde : Conciliation maternité et réalisation : influences sur le parcours de la réalisatrice, le processus de création et les œuvres en soi.

Avec les réalisatrices kanienkéha:ka (mohawks) Roxann Whitebean, Kaniehtiio Horn et Katsitsionni Fox. 

14h00-15h30: Séance de communications : Représentations hollywoodiennes, histoire du cinéma des femmes autochtones et stratégies de distribution des œuvres contemporaines 

Avec Britanny Dale (Kanienkéha:ka, Queen’s U.), Joanna Hearne (U. of Oklahoma), Amanda Trites (Anishnaabe, Queen’s U.), Naomi Johnson (Kanienkéha:ka (Mohawk), ImagineNATIVE). Présidence de séance: Elise Marubbio (Augsburg U., USA). 

Retour à Montréal en navette: heure à déterminer et inscriptions à venir.

The 9^th conference is organized from Queen’s University, where Isabelle St-Amand is an Associate professor, in partnership with  and in collaboration with the . It will be held in Montréal and Kahnawà:ke as part of the First Peoples’s Festival international Présence autochtone.

PROGRAM

SUNDAY AUGUST 9, 2026

Use the morning to stop by the Place des Festivals and enjoy the very last day of Présence autochtone’ outdoor activities, right next to the NFB where that day of the conference is taking place. 

Where: National Film Board (NFB), Room Espace ONF, ground floor (access through 1500 Balmoral).

2:30-5:15: Indigenous Cinema in Québec: Critical Approaches from Academic Research and Film Practice (academic paper followed by a round table discussion). Moderated by Mélissa Gélinas (Dawson College).

2:00pm-3:30pm: Academic panel: Hollywood Representations, the History of Indigenous Women’s Cinema, and Current Distribution Strategies for Indigenous Films
