An agreement between Queen’s University and the United Steelworkers (USW) and its Local 2010, Unit 01 (Academic Assistants) to renew their Collective Agreement has been ratified by members of the bargaining unit and the University’s Board of Trustees. The renewed collective agreement is effective through August 31, 2027.
Academic Assistants perform duties such as tutoring, grading, lab assistance, and research assistance, and normally work under the direct supervision of a member of the academic staff.
The parties began negotiations in May of this year. The University values the contributions of its faculty and staff, respects the collective bargaining process and appreciates the efforts of all concerned in bringing the process to a successful conclusion.
