Course Description
GRADS is a non-credit course, mandatory for students in years 1-4 of the PhD program and optional for students in the MA programs. This course is a weekly research and professional development forum for graduate students. Its goal is to provide professional development instruction on topics such as writing grant applications, using reference management software in research, and journal publishing, combined with opportunities to present ongoing thesis research and mock job talks. GRADS fosters consistent, high-quality research exchange and helps students build essential academic and transferable skills, including clear communication, peer feedback, public speaking, and translating research beyond one’s field.
