Turn your curiosity from the classroom into educational scholarship! The SoTL Summer Institute is your opportunity to learn about educational scholarship and start on your own SoTL research project! Whether you are exploring the idea of SoTL for the first time or you are coming with a burning question about teaching and learning, this is your chance to learn, network, and take next steps on your educational research journey.

The two-day SoTL Institute is designed to introduce educators from across the disciplines to the foundations of educational scholarship and research and to inspire new projects at Queen’s. The institute will centre around 3 interactive workshops and a discussion panel, as well as opportunities for brainstorming and project ideation. The institute will allow you to connect with colleagues who share an interest in improving teaching and learning through inquiry and resources on campus to support your scholarship endeavours.

By the end of the institute, participants will:

• Define educational scholarship and research, including SoTL, DBER, and Program Evaluation
• Explore various educational frameworks, methodological approaches, and ethical considerations and articulate their impact on planning an educational research project
• Generate initial ideas, questions, or plans for their own research or scholarship projects
