Sandra is responsible for taking the lead in coordinating the delivery and administration of programs relating to the safe planning and execution of on and off campus activities, including academic experiential learning opportunities and fulfilling the responsibilities assigned to the Department of Environmental Health & Safety under the Off-Campus Activity Safety Policy (OCASP).

Sandra is responsible for monitoring global events, and in consultation with the Director, activate the university's emergency support program as needed, including initiating response services through the external contractor. She also provides emergency response recommendations to the Director and leads the implementation of approved emergency support activities, including communicating university decisions to the external contractor and serving as a key liaison with external partners while monitoring faculty, staff, and student use of emergency support services. 

Sandra also provides advice and expertise to faculty, staff, and students planning on and off campus activities, including coordinating with departments, university partners, and the university emergency support contactor to develop safety and security plans for activities in very high-risk locations. She is also a resource person to faculty and departmental exchange coordinators and off-campus activity representatives, as well as to those persons planning or undertaking off-campus activities.
