Starting university is a big step, especially when living off campus. That’s where the First-Year Off-Campus Community (OCC) comes in. Whether you’re living with family, roommates, or on your own, OCC is here to help you feel connected, supported, and part of the Queen’s community from day one.
OCC is made up of first-year students like you, as well as friendly upper-year Off-Campus Leaders (OCLs) who are here to help you navigate university life, build connections, and make the most of your first year.
The First-Year OCC aims to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for first-year students living off-campus during their transition to university, and throughout their first year!

Summer Socials
Over the summer, we will offer 3 virtual socials. These virtual socials are designed to help incoming first-year students living off campus connect with one another, build friendships, and start creating their ľĹĐăÖ±˛Ą community before September.
Icebreaker Challenge July 22, 7-8 pm ET | Connect with other incoming first-year students who will be living off campus this fall. Through interactive challenges, you'll have the chance to meet new people, discover shared interests, and start building your ľĹĐăÖ±˛Ą community before arriving on campus. |
Games & Connections August 4, 5-6 pm ET | Looking to meet other first-year students living off campus? Join us for an evening of interactive games designed to help you connect with your future classmates in a relaxed and welcoming environment. |
Team Challenge Night August 17, 6-7 pm ET | Build connections with other incoming off-campus students through teamwork-focused challenges and a virtual escape room adventure. Discover common interests, meet new friends, and strengthen your sense of belonging before the start of the academic year. |
We offer monthly events, newsletters, personalized communications, and advice directly from your upper-year leaders throughout the year to support you. We are looking forward to seeing you!
