Volunteer for a Research Study

picture of a research participant being positioned in an MRI systemVolunteers are needed for on-going research studies this summer and autumn!

We are looking for volunteers to participate in our CIHR funded research study on chronic pain conditions.

For the current stage of the studies we need people with rheumatoid arthritis, and also people without any chronic pain conditions.

It is important that we study people who do not have chronic pain so that we can understand how neural processes might be altered in people with rheumatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, and other chronic pain conditions.

Studies to begin in September:

Future 1) Investigation of anatomical changes in people with fibromyalgia. This study will involve MRI of the brainstem and spinal cord. (not yet started). If you are interested in being contacted with information about this study, please email StromanLab@queensu.ca

Current studies in progress:

1) The neural basis of how pain is altered in rheumatoid arthritis (currently on-going)

Here you can find more detailed information about our study of altered pain processing in rheumatoid arthritis.

2) The link between emotions and pain in fibromyalgia (completed, data analysis on-going)

Participants are no longer being recruited for this study. Here you can find more detailed information about the study of how emotions might be related to fibromyalgia.
