GivingTuesday is just a month away, and once again the Queen’s community is gearing up to give back – each person choosing their own path of giving across campus.
Started in 2012, GivingTuesday has grown into a global day of generosity all about encouraging people and organizations to make an impact on their communities through donations, volunteering, and acts of kindness. This year, the day is Tuesday, Dec. 2.
For longtime Queen’s volunteer and donor Allison Williams, Artsci’09, giving back to her alma mater comes down to gratitude for the friends she made, what she learned, and the community that shaped her.
“I continue to see how every gift, big or small, can make huge ripple effects for learning and research across the university,” says Williams, also the current president of the Queen’s University Alumni Association. “And that’s what makes GivingTuesday so special – it’s about all of us pitching in together.”
Those ripple effects can be seen in countless ways across Queen’s.
From building Canada's most powerful supercomputer to innovative research on climate resilience and energy efficient farming, to developing new cancer therapies, to using AI to make legal representation more accessible, impact is in action at every corner of campus.
If you’re inspired by research that changes lives, a gift to the new helps drive innovation and discovery.
The is also a popular choice with alumni. It supports the university's greatest needs and the principal’s priorities, such as strengthening inclusion, community, and global impact. Stay tuned for more information about how to double your gift with an exciting matching opportunity.
“As a student, I can see alumni generosity every day on campus – from the clubs we join and the research we do to the bursaries that help many of us be here,” says Samantha Rogers, BHSc’27, president of the Queen’s University Student Alumni Association. “It’s pretty special knowing that alumni are still helping shape what the Queen’s experience looks like for us today.”
