Queen’s remembers Professor Emeritus David Dennis

The former head of the Department of Biology taught at Queen’s for nearly thirty years before retiring in 1995.

The Queen’s community is remembering Professor Emeritus David Dennis, who passed away in Kingston on Aug. 19 at the age of 88. Professor Dennis was born in Lancashire, England and earned his PhD in bio-physics at Leeds University before coming to Canada. He joined the Queen’s Department of Biology in 1968 and retired from the university in 1995. He served as head of the department from 1984 to 1992 and is fondly remembered for the departmental social events he organized during that time. Throughout his career, Dr. Dennis was known as a leading researcher in the field of plant biochemistry, making especially important contributions to the study of plant metabolism.

A celebration of life will be held at the Queen’s University Donald Gordon Conference Centre on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 2:00 pm.
