The Faculty of Arts and Science, the Faculty of Health Sciences, and the Faculty of Smith Engineering offer exchange opportunities at more than 100 partner universities across 30+ countries.
When you apply to the exchange program, you can list between 1 and 6 universities you would like to attend, depending on the program. The International Programs Office (IPO) reviews applications, assigns exchange placements, and nominates selected students to their host universities. Students then complete a separate application directly with the host university as the final step of the process.
Exchange placements are competitive, and each partner university has a limited number of available spots. Depending on the agreement, exchanges may last for one semester or a full academic year.
While on exchange, you continue to pay tuition to Queen’s and remain registered as a Queen’s student. You will also register as a visiting student at your host university. After completing your exchange, the credits you earn abroad are transferred back to your Queen’s degree, so participating in exchange does not usually extend the length of your studies.
