Queen’s committed to reaching tentative agreements to renew Collective Agreements with USW and PSAC unions

Queen’s University is currently engaged in collective bargaining with two unions that represent employees on campus — Public Service Alliance of Canada and its Local 901 (PSAC), and United Steelworkers (USW) and its Local 2010 — in efforts to reach tentative agreements to renew their Collective Agreements. 

Ministry of Labour issues No Board Report

Ontario’s Ministry of Labour has issued a No Board Report as talks continue between the university and the Public Service Alliance of Canada and its Local 901 (“PSAC”) to reach a tentative agreement to renew the Collective Agreement for Graduate Teaching Assistants, Teaching Fellows, Graduate Research Assistants, and Juris Doctor (JD) and Medical Doctor (MD) enrolled students employed as Teaching Assistants (“Unit 1”).

The parties have been meeting since November 18, 2024. The Collective Agreement expired on April 30, 2024.

Ministry of Labour issues No Board Report

Ontario’s Ministry of Labour issued a No Board Report on Thursday, February 20, as talks continue between the university and the United Steelworkers (USW) Local 2010 to reach a tentative renewal Collective Agreement.

USW Local 2010 represents approximately 1200 general support staff across the university. The parties commenced negotiations before the Collective Agreement expired on December 31, 2024.

Tentative agreements to renew Queen’s University and three CUPE Locals’ collective agreements ratified by all parties

Queen’s University is pleased to announce that tentative agreements to renew the Collective Agreements between the University and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and its locals 229 (Tradespeople / Maintenance Workers and Caretakers / Custodians),1302 (Library Technicians), and 254 (Lab Technicians) have all been ratified successfully by members of the CUP

The USW Local represents approximately 1200 general support staff across the university. The parties commenced negotiations before the Collective Agreement expired on December 31, 2024.

University and three CUPE Locals reach tentative deals to renew collective agreements

Queen’s University is pleased to advise that it, the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) and CUPE Local 229 (Tradespeople / Maintenance Workers and Caretakers / Custodians), Local 1302 (Library Technicians), and Local 254 (Lab Technicians) have reached tentative deals to renew their Collective Agreements, after extensive negotiations over the weekend.

The agreements are tentative and still subject to successful ratification by all the parties involved. Full details of the agreements will remain confidential pending their ratifications.

Queen’s University is engaged in negotiating with three of its Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Locals in efforts to reach agreements to renew the collective agreements between the university and CUPE Local 229 (Tradespeople / Maintenance Workers and Caretakers / Custodians), Local 1302 (Library Technicians), and Local 254 (Lab Technicians). The three Locals collectively represent approximately 425 employees.
