Members of the Queen’s community with childcare responsibilities:
Yesterday, school boards across Ontario were notified that the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) plans to begin full strike action on Monday, October 7th if they cannot reach an agreement with the government and employer associations between now and then.

We recognize that in the event of school closures some members of the Queen’s community with school-aged children may be impacted and may be unable to make alternate arrangements for childcare on short notice.

If this is the case:

The tentative collective agreement between Queen’s University and the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) Local 452 is now in effect.

OPSEU Local 452 bargaining unit members voted to ratify the collective agreement on September 30, 2019 and the Human Resources Committee of the Queen’s Board of Trustees voted to ratify the collective agreement on October 17, 2019.

Queen’s University and the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) have successfully ratified a tentative agreement reached this summer to extend their collective agreement (for Postdoctoral Fellows (Unit 2).

The collective agreement has been extended for a three-year term and will be in effect until June 30, 2023. The agreement provides for annual salary increases of 1% and complies with the Protecting a Sustainable Public Sector for Future Generations Act, 2019.

Queen’s University has scheduled bargaining dates with USW Local 2010, Unit 01, which represents Academic Assistants.

The parties will meet on April 12 and 13 and May 3, 5, 13 and 14, 2021.  The Collective Agreement between Queen’s University and USW Local 2010, Unit 01 expired on August 31, 2020.

The University values the contributions of its many employees and is committed to the collective bargaining process.

The University and United Steelworkers (USW) Local 2010, Unit 01 reached a tentative collective agreement late in the evening on May 14, 2021.  The tentative collective agreement is subject to ratification by both the university and the bargaining unit.

The university and USW Local 2010, Unit 01 have been actively engaged in negotiations to renew their collective agreement since April 2021.

Details of the tentative collective agreement will remain confidential until both parties ratify the agreement.  

Queen’s University and United Steelworkers (USW) Local 2010, Unit 01, representing Academic Assistants ratified their tentative agreement last week.

The new three-year agreement will expire on Aug. 31, 2023.

Highlights include:

Queen’s University and CUPE Local 229, representing heating and maintenance workers, exchanged collective bargaining proposals on June 22 and 23, 2021. The Parties are in the process of scheduling future bargaining dates.

The Collective Agreement between Queen’s University and CUPE Local 229 expire on June 30, 2021.

The university values the contributions of its many employees and remains committed to the collective bargaining process.

Queen’s University and CUPE Local 254, representing technicians, exchanged collective bargaining proposals on June 14 and 15, 2021. The Parties are in the process of scheduling future bargaining dates.

The Collective Agreement between Queen’s University and CUPE Local 254 expire on June 30, 2021.

The university values the contributions of its many employees and remains committed to the collective bargaining process.

Queen’s University and CUPE Local 1302, representing library technicians, exchanged collective bargaining proposals on June 28 and 29, 2021. The Parties are in the process of scheduling future bargaining dates.

The Collective Agreement between Queen’s University and CUPE Local 1302 expire on June 30, 2021. The university values the contributions of its many employees and remains committed to the collective bargaining process.

The University and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 254 reached a tentative agreement to renew their collective agreement early in the morning on November 24, 2021. The tentative collective agreement is subject to ratification by both the university and the bargaining unit.

The university and CUPE Local 254 have been actively engaged in negotiations to renew their collective agreement since June 2021.

Details of the tentative collective agreement will remain confidential until both parties ratify the agreement.
